Killtown is live!
My first pure horror novel is out now. Inspired by 80's and 90's slasher films, I imagined a scenario where a small, secluded town in East Texas was besieged by murderers with gimmicks. Serial killers with a unique flair. Some old school archetypes like the killer clown, the pyromaniac, the stealthy killer, the silent brute, and the mastermind- a killer known as the Host. I wanted to drop this one in time for Halloween, and everything fell into place to get this story out there. It was a lot of fun to write (and cathartic, to boot). I am finding that I find small towns as excellent fodder for dramatic storytelling about hidden secrets and darkness in the towns we think of as quaint and safe. While the killers are definitely the flashy characters in the story, I've created some other characters that really clicked with me for this one. The sheriff and his family are a healthy unit facing tough odds. The Baptist pastor is a character with some surprising depth. The local bar server who hates being stuck in Kingston because she believes she is destined for bigger things is someone I can really identify with. Even the large pool of local rednecks have some diamonds in the rough. I really hope you check it out soon- just click this link to buy from Amazon.
